Alexandre Da Costa

Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil, Alexandre Da Costa is originally from Montreal. At a very young age, he showed an extraordinary interest in the violin and piano. He gave his first concerts at the age of nine with the astonishing characteristic of excelling with as much virtuosity and musicality on these two instruments, which earned him recognition as a musical prodigy.
Winner of numerous major international prizes, Alexandre Da Costa is a violinist of international reputation, which has led him to be a soloist and guest conductor on four continents, 30 countries, in more than 2,000 concerts in the most illustrious halls and with the most prestigious orchestras in the world.
Alexandre takes you on a journey through the world and through time, from Europe, starting from the Baroque period (Vitali, Vivaldi, Bach) through the Classical (Mozart, Beethoven) and Romantic (Strauss, Wagner, Tchaikovsky) to the contemporary music of America, with Astor Piazzolla and John Williams.
Endowed with a multidimensional artistic vision, Alexandre places the societal sphere at the center of each of his projects. He is the only conductor who, during the health crisis, went out to meet people because, for him, music is an eminently essential good, a good that has endured for centuries and a richness that defines us as humans.
